Your feedback is an important part of maintaining and improving the quality of the DVM curriculum. Beginning in Autumn 2026, the College of Veterinary Medicine will implement an updated student feedback process for pre-clinical DVM courses designed to provide more meaningful and actionable information about both your learning experiences and the courses you take.

What to Expect

Two types of feedback opportunities will be available:

  • Instructor Feedback: Available throughout the semester and focused on your learning experience with individual instructors.
  • Course Feedback: Available during the final 10 days of the semester and focused on the course as a whole.

Updated Evaluation Questions

The DVM program pre-clinical courses will use The Ohio State University’s Survey of Student Learning Experience (SSLE) questions. These questions focus on aspects of the learning environment that students are best positioned to evaluate, such as engagement in learning, quality and timeliness of feedback, course organization, and communication. 

Accessing Evaluations

A single link or QR code will be provided for all DVM courses and will be available through Carmen. Students may also receive reminders from instructors and course teams throughout the semester.

Why Your Feedback Matters

  • Instructors use it to improve courses and teaching. 
  • Departments use it for the annual review of an instructor’s performance. 
  • Departments and committees use it to make decisions about the curriculum. 
  • Colleges use it to make decisions about promotion and tenure. 
  • Only students can provide these important insights and feedback! 

Many improvements to courses and the curriculum have been made in response to student feedback. When possible, faculty and course teams will share examples of how student input has been used to guide changes and improvements.

We encourage all students to participate in the evaluation process and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback. Your perspective plays a vital role in supporting a high-quality educational experience for current and future veterinary students.
